I’ve been a regular subscriber to the dark roast coffee in 5lbs since 2022. I love Purity Coffee dark roast- I know how it tastes, how the beans are supposed to look, and how it smells… so when I received a bag a few weeks ago which contained what I assume is actually their medium roast packed into a dark roast labeled bag, I emailed the company. The beans were lighter, smelled very different, and of course the flavor was not the smooth dark I know like the back of my hand. The company had the audacity to suggest I adjust how I brew my coffee 🙄. Then they wanted me to return the beans in the original bag. But they recently removed the resealable ziplock from their bags so I had already stored the beans into my own airtight containers— which I have noticed over these recent months do not fill quite to the top like they have consistently for the last few years. I suspect I’m not getting the whole 5lbs. I’ll weigh it next time.
The company sent me a new bag of dark roast and it was the correct type of coffee. I was satisfied until my most recent subscription delivery— this bag appears to have a mixture of medium roast and dark roast beans. They’re not quite as dark, and definitely have that medium roast bitterness which I detect in Purity Coffee’s medium roast (I have ordered a few of those before and no one in my family enjoys it). I don’t know what error Purity Coffee is trying to cover up ((trying to sneakily get rid of excess stock of medium roast because it’s gross?)) but…

While I would never question your personal experience or how the coffee tasted to you, I do want to be clear that nothing about our process has changed—not our sourcing, not our roasting profiles, and not our quality standards. We are incredibly committed to consistency and transparency, and I want to reassure you that we would never blend roasts, substitute beans, or mislabel a product. That kind of decision would go against everything we stand for and would violate both our company values and food labeling regulations.
As an agricultural product, coffee can have some natural variation from season to season—but we take great care to cup and test every batch to ensure it remains within our flavor profile and meets our quality standards. While these shifts are typically minor, we understand how someone with a deep familiarity with our coffee might pick up on those nuances.
Due to supply chain constraints, we did have a year+ period of time that 5lb bags did not come with the zip seal. However, we are happy to have these back! The bag is slightly taller, so it may appear it's not as full, though the weight is the same. 5lb bags are weighed twice during production on calibrated scales to ensure you're receiving the correct amount.
We understand this experience has been frustrating, and we're genuinely sorry it's led you to question a product you've known and loved. If you choose to explore other options, we completely respect that—and if you continue with Purity or decide to come back down the line, we’ll be here to support you however we can.

This is the first time ordering EASE and I took a chance by ordering the 5 pound bag. I am very pleased with the flavor! I broke the bag down and into smaller packets and vacuum sealed them to keep the beans fresh. I want to try FLOW next but my husband and I love this one so much, I'm afraid to switch up the subscription. LOL. I'd also like to try CALM because sometimes I really want a good cup of coffee in the afternoon but don't want it to keep me awake all night. I will NEVER go back to the random store bought "on sale" coffee.

I love everything about this dark roast! I start my day with it by grinding the beans, and I just love how it smells, tastes, and makes me feel! (I only drink black coffee and my tummy thanks me for it!) The best part is that I also have peace of mind knowing my coffee is clean (mold and pesticide free, not just organic) and is good for the earth.
