Testing & Transparency

We’re committed to testing our coffee for both quality and safety. While we’ve always conducted extensive third-party lab testing (including nutrients and contaminants), we recently learned that our previous lab’s reports could not be shared publicly, and doing so violated their policies.

We’re now transitioning to a new lab partner that allows us to post results openly, and we’ll be adding those to our site in real time. Please note that the current reports represent only a portion of our testing protocols, not the full scope. As all testing transitions to the new lab, full reports will again be available.

Please note: Sacred Cups products are not eligible for discounts or promotional codes.

Grown in the Ancient Way

Sacred Cups is sourced through our deep relationship with the indigenous Aponte Inga community, descendants of the ancient, pre-hispanic Incas who reside deep in the mountains of Colombia.

The Aponte Inga cultivate the land through ancient, time-honored farming practices that both care for the earth and craft high-quality coffee plants. They believe in the power of our connection with nature and our responsibility as stewards of the environment. Sacred aims to honor their culture through every bag.

Flavor Profile

Coffee grown in this area benefits from growing in nutrient rich volcanic ash to create a uniquely complex and sweet taste. Sacred Cups is dried using stacked raised bed solar dryers on their farms. This process reduces water used for washing coffee and complements the natural complexity of coffees from this special region.

low quality whole bean (dark roast), not worth the extra money!

This whole bean was extremely, extremely, bone dry when I opened the package. That is 99% of the time a bad whole bean to use, especially for an espresso.

This is only 1 of 2 dark roasted beans offered on thier website. They don't offer a whole bean for espresso......? At least I didn't see any offered on their website.

This whole bean may or may not be good with drip coffee, I wouldn't know, I only drink espresso, but if you try an used it for an espresso, it's just awful, watery, not rich and robust. Maybe their other (2nd) dark roast whole bean is better, I've never tried it.

There also was no "roast date" on the 12oz bag, only a "best by" date. For a good espresso you want to grind the whole bean within 6 to 10 days of the roast date of that particular bag of coffee beans. You don't want them bagged, just sitting around drying out the natural coffee bean oil they have on them after they are dry roasted.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback, I appreciate you explaining what you experienced.

I’m genuinely sorry that this coffee wasn’t a good fit for your espresso preferences. While many customers do enjoy our dark roasts for espresso, taste, mouthfeel, and extraction expectations can vary quite a bit depending on personal preference and brewing style.

A couple of quick clarifications for context:

    - Our beans are intentionally not oily, even on darker roasts. Surface oil is typically a sign of age or very extended roasting, and we roast to preserve beneficial compounds and minimize PAHs rather than push into French- or Italian-style roast levels.

    - We don’t print a roast date on the bag, but the “best by” date reflects a 12-month freshness window from roast. The roast date can be calculated by subtracting 12 months from the best by date.

That said, what matters most is your experience, and since this didn’t meet your expectations, I’ve gone ahead and issued a 50% refund under our Satisfaction Guarantee. You should see that reflected back to your original payment method shortly. I have also cancelled the subscription to stop future recurring orders.

While this particular roast wasn’t the right match for you, we truly appreciate you giving Purity Coffee a try. If you ever decide to explore a different style or have questions down the road, we’re always happy to help. We'd love to help troubleshoot so you can potentially enjoy the rest of your 5lb bag.

    Wishing you all the best.

I tried them all, this is the best

I am Ecuadorian and a little bit of a coffee snob. I got every blend of Purity and this one has the best flavor profile. All the others are fine but do have a bit of a different taste than “normal” coffees. this is the most reliable to try first if you’ve never tried Purity before and enjoy a dark roast.

The coffee is very weak, even the dark roast. Way to weak to enjoy. Basically brown water.

    The "Sacred" Coffee

The special coffee was best brewed in a French Press. It was intense, delicious, and like nothing we ever had before!

    Best coffee

I served sacred cups for the Holidays, everyone loved them. I love this coffee, it has great taste and I noticed right away that it doesn’t affect my stomach like other coffee.

PURITY COFFEE - Organic + Non-Toxic Coffee. Learn why it's the only coffee that Mama Joyce + I will drink here:

( - ) Most COMMERCIAL COFFEE is sprayed w/ pesticides + mold before it’s shipped. • May have cancer-causing compounds like Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) which develop from over-roasting. • Can languish in warehouses + supermarkets, lose potency + likely to cause digestive issues.

( + ) PURITY COFFEE only sources ORGANIC BEANS, TESTS FOR MOLD, PESTICIDES + OCHRATOXIN A (can cause kidney damage).
